Trike Patent Granted to Honda NeoWing where Two-wheeler manufacturers have played around the idea of a three-wheeled motorcycle for quite a while now but no one came close to one that seemed to resemble one. That was until Yamaha launched the Niken. Honda is now looking to enter the fray and even though the concept was shown back in 2019, the patents to the bike have just been granted and published. The patents reveal that just as in the concept, the bike will be a reverse-trike meaning two wheels at the front and one at the back, just like the Niken, but it will be much wider.

Features of trike of honda neowing are something which a trike usually can’t do. However, people had ridden several leaning three-wheeled scooters and they are great fun. The advantages are more front-end grip, better handling and increased braking performance. Honda could also use an electric motor on the production model of the NeoWing concept, which could power either the front wheels or the rear wheel.

Till now, there is no confirmation on when Honda will officially unveil the production model of the NeoWing but with the patent granted, we believe it will be sooner than later. At present, the only leaning three-wheeler which is under production is the Yamaha Niken. The Niken is powered by an 847 cc, in-line three-cylinder engine making, 111.8 bhp and 87.5 Nm of peak torque which is the same as the one on the Yamaha MT-09.

Design Of Trike Of Honda NeoWing

Honda NeoWing is expected to be based on the same engine specifications as that of the Gold Wing. The single wheel at the back is connected to the engine while the dual front wheels are connected to the steering. The bike can lean into corners just like other bikes but would offer more stability and control. According to the patent, the Honda NeoWing might feature a 6-cylinder engine borrowed from the Gold Wing though, the company does suggest a 2-cylinder engine also.

Judging from this, the brand might introduce the three-wheeler with two engine specifications, giving the Yamaha NIKEN a tough competition by launching an entry-level model of NeoWing powered by a 2-cylinder engine. Powering the Yamaha NIKEN is an 847cc, three-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power of 115 HP at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 87.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm.
