This SUV in it’s concept form was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 and became an instant hit. Tata has been making making waves lately. After the success of the Tiago and Tigor, it was the turn of the Nexon. Tata’s entry into the compact SUV space with the Nexon was an instant success as it offered great value and also first in class features.The Harrier has 80% of the design elements retained from the H5X concept. This platform will also underpin other products in the future, from Tata. It looks futuristic and very appealing. Once on the road, this is expected to be a stunner.

Engine and Transmission
The Tata Harrier specifications will include only a diesel engine sourced from Fiat Chrysler. The 2.0-litre Fiat Multijet turbocharged engine is expected to offer 140 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, expect it to get a standard six-speed manual gearbox. It could also get an automatic unit, through there is yet no official confirmation on the same.
Braking and Safety
In terms of safety, expect the SUV to get multiple airbags, anti-lock-braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, hill descent control, electronic stability program with rollover mitigation and traction control, among others.
All of Tata’s new cars are based on the IMPACT design language and the Tata Harrier exterior will be built on the evolved IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy. It will be the first model to embrace the latest design tenet. The production spec is likely to carry over most of the cues from the concept. The bold styling will be retained and large chunky wheels will further accentuate the muscular look. Other bits such as sleek headlamps, high-set tail-lamps and a floating roof are expected to finish the look.
Tata Harrier interior will feature a five-seat layout inside the cabin with ample space for passenger seated in the second row. Expect both the rows to get a centre armrest, while in terms of features, the SUV will come with rear AC vents, sunroof, steering-mounted controls, a touchscreen infotainment system and memory functions for the front seats.
While there is a hint on the engine set-up and transmission to be used on the upcoming Tata Harrier, there is yet no word on the fuel economy. Going by the estimates, the compact SUV could offer around 18 km/l, which is pretty impressive.
