The Mini Countryman has been launched in India. Which is the second generation for the British automaker’s largest vehicle? And was unveiled for the Indian market at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new MINI Countryman D having been assembled in India goes light in the pocket at Rs 28.6 lakh. The new-gen Countryman gets two petrol and one diesel engine. The all-new Countryman underpins the new BMW X1 and will be locally assembled at BMW’s Chennai plant.

 

 

All-new bigger Mini continues to make a curious, flawed crossover hatchback. Though it’s more compelling to drive than some and more practical than it used to be. This 2019 Mini Countryman review incorporates applicable research for all model years in this generation. Which spans the 2017 through 2019 model years.

Design & Features 

There is no doubt that the Countryman’s biggest selling point is its looks. There lies its appeal as a lifestyle product. The interiors are not too shabby either and you get some nice signature bits as the chrome surrounds. For the infotainment system which harks back to the way to the instrument cluster was placed in the original BMC Mini. Also, the beige and black color combination as it is quite pleasing to the eyes.

 


Being the largest car that Mini makes, it’s quite a bit more practical than its smaller and sportier siblings. Which also makes it a product that opens the Mini brand. To nuclear families rather than the two-person deal that the other cars offer.

Engine

The second-gen Mini Countryman is powered by 2.0-liter petrol 192PS/280Nm. Also, diesel 190PS/400Nm engines mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission in an all-wheel-drive setup. It will be available in three variants: S, SD diesel and S JCW Inspired.

 

 

This base variant comes with an engine putting out [email protected] And [email protected] of max power and max torque respectively. The gasoline motor comes mated to 8 Speed Automatic transmission which is quite a joy to use. MINI claims an average of 16.6 kmpl for this base Cooper S variant.
