Hyundai’s hatchback, likely to be called Santro (codenamed AH2) is to be launched on October 23, 2018. This car will be positioned below Grand i10 and will retreat Hyundai’s Eon.

Several design sketches of 2018 Hyundai Santro had been released by the company, which reveals a sharp looking compact car. The car will sport with tallboy stance, appear with stylish headlamps and fog lamps with a roof mounted rear spoiler flaming arches with a slightly sloping roofline and accomplish a set of smart looking wheels.

Hyundai Santro AH2 is expected to get company’s signature cascading grille with steel wheels and silver hubcaps, which indicates that Hyundai might not  offer alloy wheels.

Much like the primitive Santro and the Eon, the AH2 is expected to be powered by an updated version of the Santro Xing’s 65hp, 1.1-litre petrol engine. AH2 will also be the first Hyundai to get an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) in addition to a five-speed manual gearbox. Keeping in line with Hyundai’s approach in recent years, the AH2 is expected to have well-designed interiors with the focus set on top-notch materials. A dash-mounted gear lever is another element likely to make it to the AH2. There is also a twin-pod instrument console with possibly a MID unit in the centre and is expected  to come with features like Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

It’s been in the rumor, the competitive pricing will be key for Hyundai since the AH2 will be up against redoubtable competitors such as the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, and the Tata Tiago, both of which popular in the market.

For the premium segment, hyundai might charge for it. The AH2 is certain to have an edge over its match in terms of safety. Dual front airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors are expected to be normal from launch, giving it an edge over the Celerio, and ABS and additional airbags as optional extras.

Hyundai will reveal the AH2’s official name and more essential features to the country on October 9.
