Fortuner is  India’s most favourite SUVs. It was first launched in 2010 and since then it has been selling in good numbers. It was more expensive than most SUVs  during that time, however, the Fortuner was soon to become an aspirational vehicle for many. The 2018 Toyota Fortuner is here now and it comes with subtle changes. It gets subtle upgrades and they are not many. There is also a TRD Sportivo variant available. The petrol version comes with a 2.7-litre engine. This is offered with six-speed manual and automatic options. This is a smooth and quiet engine. It is the best pick if your driving is limited. Also, it is extremely quiet on the highways, and a comfortable cruiser.

The 2.8-litre diesel engine is offered with manual, automatic and even 4×2 and 4×4 options. This engine is major selling option. It churns good amount of power and torque. It has good performance and drivability too. The 4×4 comes on the fly this time, as it is electronic switch this time.

Mileage

The petrol engine will return close to 10 km/l in the city, 9 km/l for the automatic. The 2.8 diesel manual has about 11km/l and the automatic returns close to 10.5km/l.

Toyota Fortuner 2018 Exterior

The new-gen Toyota Fortuner 2018 does look radical. It has a lot of elements on it that make it look stylish and new. The previous-generation Fortuner looked bulky and had good road presence. This one is sleek, with a small front grille, stylish looking headlamps and round fog lamps. The bonnet is also flat and this makes it look at the corners. The glass area is less also.

The cabin design is all new. It has black interiors with stylish looking dashboard. The instrument cluster is easy to read. The centre console has AC vents, touchscreen system and climate control also. The front row seats are large and comfortable.

The second row of Toyota Fortuner 2018 is spacious and provides good comfort. These seats can slide as well as recline. The AC vents for the second and third row are mounted of the roof. The third row seats are also the reclining type. These are comfortable for tall passengers too, when the second row seats slide forward. There are seven airbags, ABS with EBD and security. There is brake assist, hill start assist control, vehicle stability control, emergency stop signal, reverse camera and even trailer sway control.

The other features include 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multi-functional steering wheel with paddle shifters, automatic climate control and electrically adjustable door mirrors with power folding function.

Suspension system

The suspension on the Fortuner 2018 has double wishbone, stabiliser bar at the front and even the 5-arm coil spring stabiliser bar at the rear. The suspension is a lot more composed improving the ride quality to a great extent.

Top Model

The Fortuner 2018 gets a new top model. This is the new TRD Sportivo variant. There are cosmetic changes on this new variant and it even has good enough performance. The design looks contemporary and is stylish.  The interiors also are swanky. They are a lot more practical and offer proper seven seats too. Toyota Fortuner 2018 is a proper seven-seater that has good space in the third row for adults.

The Fortuner 2018 has a sleek exterior. The fascia is sharp resembling a Ninja. The headlamps are sleek, they offer Bi-LED projector lamps and even daytime running LEDs, The front grille is large and it looks cool. The side profile also looks sharp. The rear has the same finesse of the front, with similar styled tail lamps. There shall be 18-inch tyres offered on higher end variants.

On the inside too, the dash board is all new. An all new centre console and more importantly it looks different from the Innova Crysta. There are seven airbags this time, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill assist etc. There are two engines on offer on the new Fortuner 2018, and they come with two transmission options as well.

In terms of colours, the Fortuner 2018 has seven colours on offer. These are Super White, Attitude black, Avant-garde bronze, White pearl crystal shine, Silver metallic and Phantom brown.
